Right panel: For a dark burnished look apply each coat using a metal trowel. For even darker burnish marks use a blue steel trowel on some or all of the coats. Run the edge of the trowel over the finished area after each coat dries for maximum burnishing. |
![]() 1st 2nd and 3rd coats 4 oz Butterscotch After allowing final coat of SkimStone to dry lay out stencil pattern (one-time use sticky back stencils such as Modellos are recommended). Use one or more colors to fill in stencil. To prevent seeping and running mix your SkimStone powder thicker than is usually recommended. Allow to dry. Peel up stencil as soon as SkimStone is dry. |

Apply 2nd and 3rd coats of SkimStone over taped design. Remove tape as soon as 3rd coat is dry to the touch. This method can also be used to create slate, stone and brick patterns. |
![]() 1st Coat 8 oz Winter Olive, 2nd coat 4 oz Winter Olive, 3rd coat 2 oz Winter Olive For exaggerated texture use 3 shades of the same color starting with the darkest shade and ending with the lightest shade. NOTE - any time there is a big difference in color shades, the lighter shade will take on a white, chalky appearance. If this is not the desired look, use less contrasting shades to achieve the exaggerated texture. |
![]() 1st and 2nd coat 8 oz Eggplant, 3rd coat left side 8 oz Minoan red, 3rd coat right side 2 oz Deep slate. When using 2 or more colors together it is best to use your darker colors first. As shown in the panel above, a base color will be greatly affected by the color chosen to go over it and very different looks can be achieved by simply changing the 3rd coat's color. |
![]() 1st and 2nd coat 4 oz Yellowstone, 3rd coat 4 oz Florentine Clay, stencil 4 oz Mocha After allowing the 2nd coat of SkimStone to dry lay out stencil pattern (one-time use sticky back stencils such as Modellos are recommended). Use one or more colors to fill in the stencil. As soon as the SkimStone is dry to the touch peel up sticky back stencil. Apply 3rd coat of SkimStone over entire area including stencil area. Use a sponge or lint free rag to remove excess product from stenciled area and trowel over the area to remove sponge or rag marks. |
